1) What is Homeopathy?
Homeopathy is a therapeutic method using natural substances in micro doses to stimulate the body's natural resources. Homeopathic medicines can be effective in treating many acute and chronic health conditions such as allergies, coughs, colds, flu, stress, arthritis, trauma and teething.
2) What are homeopathic medicines?
Homeopathic medicines are therapeutically active micro doses of botanical, biological and mineral substances. They are reliable and safe drugs, therefore considered by many as an excellent first choice when self-medicating. Homeopathic medicines have been used for more than 200 years and regulated in Europe, in United States Canada as drugs. They are manufactured in strict accordance with the Homeopathic Pharmacopoeai of Europe, United States (HPUS) and Drug Goods Manufacturing Practices.
3) Is homeopathy known throughout the world?
Today, homeopathy is used by millions of patients in more than 65 countries and recommended by more than 400,000 health care providers worldwide. The World Health Organization ranks homeopathy as the second most popular therapy in the world.
4) How are homeopathic medicines presented?
Like other drugs, homeopathic medicines are presented either as single medicines (containing only one active ingredient) or as combination medicines (containing multiple active ingredients within the same dosage form). Depending upon your symptoms and your knowledge of homeopathy, you can choose the homeopathic medicine presentation you feel most comfortable with: single medicines, combination medicines or CareKits.
5) What are the advantages of combination medicines?
Combination medicines are very convenient since they do not require matching symptoms with a specific single medicine and are available in a variety of dosage forms such as tablets, suppositories, eye drops, gels, ointments, and liquids. A combination medicine may be used any time your symptoms match the intended use indicated on the packaging.
6) When should I choose a single medicine?
In some instances, symptoms are so specific that selecting a single medicine is straight forward and the most appropriate. Single medicines are packaged in our trademark "multidose tubes". Over 80 of the most commonly used single medicines are available in health food stores and pharmacies. These stores may also special-order other single medicines among the 850 Boiron carries.
7) Homeopathic medicines are they safe for any child?
Homeopathic medicines are made with active ingredients that carry no risk of toxicity. There is absolutely no danger of dependency or side effects and they can be taken with conventional medication.
8) What homeopathic dilution should I choose?
The level of dilution in Homeopathy does not correspond to strength: a 30 CH is not stronger than a 6 CH. The difference is in their level of action. While a 6 CH is suited to local symptoms, a 30 CH or higher is more appropriate for general conditions, such as allergy, stress and sleep disorders.
9) Can it be taken with other medications?
Homeopathic medicines are safe, with no side effects or contra-indications (especially when diluted above 4 CH). They can safely be taken in conjunction with other conventional medicines and are sometimes recommended to complement other treatments.
10) When should I take my homeopathic medicines?
One of the most efficient routes of absorption for homeopathic medicines is the sub-lingual administration (under the tongue). To allow better absorption, homeopathic medicines should preferably be taken apart from meals, and in a mouth free of strong flavours.
